A new way of hospital waste management in Beira

20 April 2022

SABE - a small but powerful start up company for the healthcare waste collection and treatment service in Beira, finally made it to install the NW15 sterilizer!

Solids and liquids coming from hospitals need to be handled properly and on-site in order to avoid the risks involved and contribute to a safer and eco-sustainable future

Poor waste management has the potential to affect healthcare workers through needlestick injuries, burns, and exposure to pathogenic microorganisms. It may also affect communities living in proximity to poorly managed landfills and waste disposal sites, through contaminated air, poor water quality, or disease-carrying pests.

The management and disposal of healthcare waste call for solutions that give priority to the necessity of avoiding biological risks, being friendly to the environment, and offering financial advantages.

Using business as a positive force to support SDGs

The 2030 Agenda, which directs the international community's commitment to 17 Sustainable Development Goals, places the accent on private entrepreneurial activity, defining international trade as the "engine for inclusive economic growth’’.The aim is therefore to develop a sustainable business model in terms of production and consumption - as an indicator of Objective 12 - which takes into account the social and environmental impacts on communities.

In line with this vision, we will continue to get involved in international cooperation projects, with the aim of contributing to develop quality hospital waste management and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

Operating not only for the safeguard of the environment with a suitable treatment of hazardous healthcare waste, but at the same time activating innovative entrepreneurial initiatives and valorizing people by creating specialized roles.
